Exchange Program with Japanese High Schoolers

Since many anime revolves high school life, wouldn’t it be great if one could have a chance to interact with some of them? (for females, bishounen guys; for males, moe/pretty girls)

For the past few months I’ve been bringing those High Schoolers around my country as an alternative source of income.

These High Schoolers (usually kids from High School, but there are some groups which are from College or Middle School) come to my country on a basis of a school trip, and sometimes cultural exchange programs.

It’s taxing to note down everything in paragraphs, so I’ll do it in point form.

Index
Bishies/Bishounen = Pretty/handsome boys
Gal (pronounced as Gal-ru) = hip and trendy; usually to express on the image of a certain guy/girl’s dressing, makeup and grooming. (something like visual kei , but not so extreme)

High School Guys
-The bishies are more often trying their ‘best’ to act cool most of the time (which doesn’t concern me in any way)
-Guy groups are more often than not, more boring than female groups (since they are less chatty and all)
-Guy groups like female guides, since Japanese High School Guys are perpetually Mobile Horny Factories. Anything with 2 boobs and a ‘hole’ would get them excited. Even with the Bishies.
-Otakus are afraid to reveal their ’status’, while ‘normal’ kids would try to get them to reveal. It’s a society problem there, as compared to my country, where most people enjoy watching anime.
-High School Otakus are not as rich to buy tons of merchandise as compared to people of whom I know (myself included), and do not know as much anime information as the locals here. Save those hardcore ones for the working adults in Japan.
-They usually like sports shops, and CD shops. Local accessories shop 77th Street is also another shop that they take interest in.
-Guys are a lot more troublesome, especially when it comes to notorious schools.

Me and some High Schoolers from Kyushu.

High School Girls
- Japanese music/artistes (not anison bands/groups like JAM Project or Nana Mizuki) are a good topic to get them going. Usually likes boybands (eg KAT-TUN, NEWS etc), pretty artistes (Ayumi Hamasaki, Koda Kumi etc) , old school bands (ELT, Do As Infinity, etc).
- Shopping is their life. Usually. Especially clothes, shoes and accessories, also preferably cheap.
- Cake shops and sweet shops are their favourite places.
- Occasionally sing boyband songs as they walk.
- Occasionally break out in local gags.

Stuff that both of the groups do:

- Dislike Durian/Durian Ice Cream
- Complain of the heat in my country (it’s 1 degrees above the Equator; hot all year round)
- Usually won’t reply email you sent to them.

I’ve based all of these information with the 30+ over times I’ve brought such groups around Singapore.

I’ve introduced quite a few local animebloggers (Bjorn, double, Windbell, Crest) and other people from the local anime community. A pity, since now the peak period is over, and they won’t be coming until about half a year’s time.

    they’re high schoolers, aka 17 years old girls. how different can they be?

    And no I don’t have better pics since they’re taken from my cellphone camera.

    Eh, I dunno, maybe they could’ve been a LITTLE different. I didn’t really expect anything unique though.

    Hi Sentinel! Soshi from Tachikomatic Days here.

    Double (from Furu Anime Panikku)said that you have contacts for the bringing Japanese students around Singapore jobs – um, I hope this isn’t too presumptuous or anything but, O: do you happen to know if they have vacancies?

    Thanks :)

    @soshi
    The peak period is over, hence now there isn’t any slots for it. You’ll have to wait until October if you want any.

    @kazeto
    I speak to them mostly in Japanese, though my grammar sucks.
