I know most people who collect manga/artbooks treat these useless strips of paper very well, and can get rather paranoid (or hysterical) when they go missing. As much of an obsessive collector I am, I never had it in me to take care of them book obis. The value of the book lies in the content; and the obi just gets in the way of reading.
