Anime Karaoke amid sunny and humid Singapore

What’s an otaku without some hot blooded (or moe-fied) songs to sing along with?
About every month or so, Bonkurasu and NKDS will occasionally have a karaoke session. But where do we usually sing? Each other’s homes?
NooooOoOOoO.
There has been several karaoke joints that have a good selection of anime songs in their song lists. The thing is, all of them are under a company similar to K-Box, called ‘Cash Studios’. No, it’s not out to cheat money, but rather it’s rather cheap to sing there as compared to the usual karaoke joints, especially if you go on the weekdays before 6pm.
Here’s the breakdown on the price list:
Weekdays:
Before 6pm
- SGD38++ for 3 pax, SGD7++ for subsequent guest, includes 1 free drink.
Weekends/holidays/eve of holidays/after 6pm
- SGD58++ for 3 pax, SGD12++ for subsequent guest, includes 1 free drink.
There are several outlets of Cash studios, namely one at Ming arcade B3 (next to Forum the Shopping Mall), Cuppage B2 (nearby Centrepoint), and Simpang Bedok. I apologise for the lack of specific address, but I hope it will at least provide some information, albeit not very specific.
The joint at Ming Arcade has many songs, but is only currently updated till June 2008; the one at Cuppage is updated until November 2008, but does not have a few older songs from several anime series, such as character songs. I have no clue about how updated the Japanese song list are at Simpang Bedok, though.
Be warned: all of the song lyrics are in Hiragana/Kanji/Furigana, so be sure to have either romaji lyrics of the songs you like prior to going for karaoke, or memorise the song by hard, or simply just learn how to read Japanese text.
At least one thing’s for sure, karaoke not only provides good de-stressing, it sure improves my Japanese reading skills as well.
Sing your heart away!
