Had been pretty into Winamp skins recently and when I decided to check out Ngee Khiong’s I felt as if a tsunami came down on me, hard.

Look!! Its God Gundam in Sangokuden at last!!

Yes, the tsunami is the lot of new kit and products announcements from Bandai at the 48th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2009 happening from May 14th till 17th at Twin Messe Shizuoka Convention Center. As the title suggest this post will cover the new SD Gundam stuffs.

First up the new stuffs from the BB Senshi Sangokuden series.
(I’ll skip the already announced May and June releases)

“Pacification of Nanban”

Into the first picture proper (still having that uneasy dizzy feeling of excitement).
3 lastest kits for the Sangokuden series:
- Tenshouryuu Koumei Nuu Gundam(天翔竜 孔明νガンダム)
- Moukaku Gundam(孟獲ガンダム, Meng Huo)
- Shukuyuu Gundam(祝融ガンダム, Zhu Rong)

Looks like Koumei finally awaken as to his other name “the awakened hidden dragon”(目覚めし伏竜). Back to his original form of Nu Gundam before he went into hiding as Re-GZ, feels like he is seriously leading the Shou Kingdom now. Feels like Ryuubi is seriously gone (while Sousou is confirmed to come back as Emperor). Wonder if he can equip the Ryuukihou.

From the same name “Bakuousen”(爆凰扇), I assume the small BWS inspired bird/fan awakened to become the Hi-Nuu funnel backpack inspired big bird. Nuu Gundam motif + the Hi-Nuu elements from the new Bakuousen, all with the similar patterns from the Koumei Re-GZ design.

A tranparent green part is used to hold up a funnel and the funnel holds a sword, newtype? :P The transparent green part doubles as Bakuousen’s tail too. Besides combining in humanoid form the 2 can also combine to a dragon form as shown in the second picture of this post.

Scheduled for July release for 1260yen.

Next up is Moukaku and Shukuyuu, roles taken by God Gundam and Nobel Gundam respectively. Moukaku is based on the RoTK character Meng Huo. Shukuyuu is based on the Lady Zhurong RoTK character. According to the chinese literature, Meng Huo and Zhurong are husband and wife.

Ladies first, heres Shukuyuu upclose.

The first 2 Sangokuden designs from G Gundam. From pictures of the art board close up, Moukaku and Shukuyuu seems to be blood descendants from the neighbouring continent of ancient Albion (赤流火穏). Mirisha is considered as the ancient Abram (影舞乱夢). Both seem to be the king and queen of the Nanban(南蛮) just like their RoTK counterparts. Moukaka uses the invincible fist fighting technique “Ashura Shinken”(阿修羅神拳). Details for Shukuyuu are too blurred to read.

Other names for the 2 are “Ashura King”(阿修羅王) and “Queen of Rasetsu”(羅刹の女王).

About that elephant..there seems to be a gimmick to it. There are black fists at its front feet an doesn’t that design remind you of Grand Gundam? Or could it be a combiner armor gimmick?

Scheduled for release in Summer as a set.

Ok thats for Sangokuden. With future Abrams and Albion appearing, this may be set in future Ark(天宮). Catching on to the sengoku boom a new(?) BB Senshi series is annouced. So far it looks to be a rehash of the kits from the 2004-2005 Musharetsuden series. The characters featured are from the Sengoku period of Japan.

The first 3 kits announced in this series are:
- Takeda Shingen Gundam(武田信玄頑駄無)
- Uesugi Kenshin Gundam(上杉謙信頑駄無)
- Naoe Kanetsugu Gundam(直江兼続頑駄無)
, played by First, Zeta and Mk-II respectively.

Yup the 3 are design rehashes from 2004 kits: Rekka Musha Gundam, Shippu Kengou Zeta and Tensho Shinjin Mk-II.

Actually Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin had made their BB Senshi debut back in 1991 as Shingen Gundam(信玄頑駄無) and Kenshin Gundam(謙信頑駄無), BB 55 and BB 56 respectively. In their in-kit manga it is a case of spirit possession on Musha Gundam and Musha Zeta during a training battle.

For SDX series the next in line will be the Superior Dragon.
For those who do not know, the SDX series is an action figure series.

A short(real super short) story of this character: When Gundam Mark Three from the Musha Gundam world was transported to Saddrac World where his good half became Knight Gundam and bad half Satan Gundam. Later on realizing that they are originally a single being, they fuse to become Superior Dragon.

Some parts swapping to transform to dragon mode.
The fifth in the SDX series, scheduled to be released in August for 6090yen.

Ok got to end this soon.
The other 3 misc new SD releases mentioned are the Exia R2, O Gundam and RX-78 TV-color version.

The RX-78 seems to be the one from the past Perfect Gundam kit with a new color scheme, new stickers and newly molded weapons (last 2 points from here)

Nothing to say about O Gundam but Exia R2, damn Bandai pulled a stunt again!
It even has the normal Exia parts!

Exia R2 and O coming in August, Rx-78 coming in July, 840yen.

Lastly on the SD Gundam Gashapon side, there a new series “SD Gundam Bind”.

It plays by mixing and matching parts from different units to make something original, similar to the previous “SD Gundam Fullcolor CUSTOM” series. But for “Bind” there will be a manga story for it.
