Figure Fun+: Reunion

Ok brought you in for 3 months and you’ve gain an attitude, huh?
Good going, you’ve struck the right note there.

“Almost there, you guys will be out soon!”

Yup, its been left in the pile for quite a bit. Had to open it sooner or later so I decided to do a small photoshoot/review of this item.
Ok, lets begin from the packaging!

Packaging

The 6 sides of the box

Sometimes those nice packaging kind of deter me from opening them so before I proceed further here are some snapshots of the packaging.

I like the design at the back of the box, would make a pretty nice wallpaper.

The insides straight out of the box then split to the 2 parts.

In the box is a plastic support made up of two pieces capped back to back, one is a tray holding the two books(more on the books later) and the other holding the figure and accessories.

The books tray is bigger and caps back to back onto the figure holding piece.

Books

Volume 3: Front and Back

The whole product is actually a “super” limited edition of the third collected volume of the parody gag manga “The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi chan” and as listed on the box it comes with three things: a Nendoroid Petit of Nagato Yuki (Haruhi chan ver.), a “super” rare manga booklet and the collected volume three with a different cover art. The mangaka of both books is Puyo.

Booklet: Front and Back

The small booklet contains a short manga story titled “The Past of Itsuki Koizumi”. What I get is that its about a younger Koizumi executing his first mission in the “Organization”, his first time fighting the giant being in the closed space. He has Arakawa by his side and Mori watches from a far. Mori is shown to be pretty skilled in the manga. The story has a darker feel and a more serious tone compared to the Haruhi chan manga. But in small text at the inside of the back cover it says that it is the past of the Koizumi in Haruhi chan and not the Koizumi of the main series.

Volume 3: Without outer jacket

Didn’t follow the Haruhi chan manga series but watched some of it’s short anime episodes. Volume three contains twelve chapters and a rather dramatic(lol) next book preview.

Figure

The fully equipped Nagato is about 7.1cm tall. I like her eyes…

The figure is called “Usamimi Nagato(うさみみ長門)” or “Nagato Yuki (Haruhi chan ver.)” as written on the box. Usamimi means is rabbit ears [usagi(rabbit) plus mimi(ear)]. There are four parts to the Nendoroid Petit figure: the Nagato figure, usamimi headphones (given to Nagato by Kyon to keep her erogaming to herself), Kimidori-san (a green sentient dog balloon created by Nagato) and the Nendoroid Petit base. The first three parts are well protected with plastic sheets and bags in the plastic holding piece.

Nagato had to be broken to pieces to remove the protective plastic sheets

Kimidori-san has a really smooth and slippery texture. It also has a groove at its under side to catch on to the bridge piece of the headphone but the smooth surface of Kimidori-san will kind of stick onto the matte surface of the headphone and hair after sometime.

The usamimi headphone has an asymmetrical design, the bridge piece is curved in such a way to fit the head better and the left side of the headphone doesn’t cup the ear completely like the right side. The headphone I got had some sticky stuff on the underside of the bridge piece, cleared the sticky stuff up with some sticky tape and its all ok. The laptop she hugs is painted in a almost reflective shiny silver color.

Some Fun

Don’t have many Nedoroid Petits around and didn’t want to scratch any of them so just the Yukis.

Take a look at the photo gallery for all and a few more pictures.

Epilogue?

More to come?
