The Bonkurasu Brigade

AFA11 – zomgwtfbbq

I suppose you can already guess what this is going to be about! As you have probably heard, the next Mikupa will be held in Singapore, at the Anime Festival Asia 11, on the quirky date of 11.11.11, Friday night. If the Sapporo concert was anything to go by, we’d be getting the magical glass screen and also an exciting lineup of new songs by popular producers. I do hope they play some old favorites too, though!

One of the things to look forward to is definitely the 39’s, the live band who played for the previous Vocaloid concerts. I really enjoy their live arranges of classic songs, and damn, their skill level is really something to behold! Also, I wonder if we’ll see any music producers being invited, too.

Another announcement I didn’t expect was Itou Kanako and Shikura Chiyomaru (5pb’s famous ikemen shachou-san)! This combination can only mean the Science Adventure Series! We’ll get to hear Hacking to the Gate, and I hope they play Sky Clad Observer, and Find the Blue as well!

Chaos ni naruuu

As a Nitro+ fan, I’m definitely looking forward to hearing Itou Kanako perform her non-5pb songs as well. Also, Nitro+ will be featured in Akiba Town again this year!

Other artists on the lineup include Kalafina, FLOW, Ichirou Mizuki, LiSA, May’n, Milky Holmes and Sea☆A. Click here for more information!

Not to be overlooked are the main stage features, and we have the Aniplex producer, Atsuhiro Iwakami, who has worked on Madoka Magica, Hidamari Sketch, Bakemonogatari, Cencoroll, Oreimo and A Channel! He’ll be talking mostly about Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero, though. We also have Saitou Chiwa, now most famous for her role as Akemi Homura, but also to be remembered as Becky from Pani Poni Dash! and Senjougahara Hitagi from Bakemonogatari. It seems that we can also expect a live dubbing session from her, too!

Also, character designer/animator Tanaka Masayoshi will be making an appearance too. If the name sounds unfamiliar to you, he’s the person who did the character designs for Toradora, Highschool of the Dead, and most recently, Anohana. He is also the animation director for these series, and also for the Hitman Reborn anime.

You’d probably know him for this oppai matrix scene in Highschool of the Dead (The director apparently told the animators to “do something interesting using boobs”).

He will be making an appearance with Shunsuke Saitou, the producer of Anohana, who is also working on Working!! (no pun intended) now.

And that sums up the stuff I’m anticipating so far for AFA11. November’s drawing near!
