The Bonkurasu Brigade was formed since end January 2007. It was created by 2 individuals who shared an appreciation of the zany and wacky side of anime and ota-culture.
We want to inject a sense of randomness and fun into our posts, while still retaining some semblance of anime-blogging; and to
force share our fandom and loves with everyone. Getting too serious about articles ain’t our style; we want to keep it idiotic 8D
The goal was initially to blog more about figurines, Gunpla, and to cover events such as SCC’s Cosfest and Anime Festival Asia. But as time goes by and our wallets become malnourished from purchasing overpriced plastic, not to mention the ever-decreasing room space and expanding interests, such articles have become less frequent recently.
Why are we called ‘The Bonkurasu Brigade’?
Bonkurasu (Bonklers) is derived from the word ‘bonkura’, which, bluntly put, means blockhead. In Azumanga, Yomi uses the term to describe Osaka, Kagura and Tomo, adding the -su sound in reference to English grammar, making the term plural (â€bonkura-suâ€) [ Information excerpted from the very first post of Bonkurasu.]
The idea was also when Suzumiya Haruhi was still fairly popular, hence we put ‘Bonkurasu’ and ‘Brigade’ together. PROFIT.
What can you expect from reading Bonkurasu?
Our current focus covers Perfume (the techno-pop unit), Gunpla, May’n blog translations, random Anison and the occasional anime and seiyuu posts.
